Briana Ullman spent a good part of her summer in and around hammocks, working hard and enjoying it thoroughly. The communication major found the internship of her dreams with ENO, makers of packable hammocks and other outdoors accessories. Solidifying Interests Through Internships
Sarah Smith (junior, Communication) is testing her interests, honing her skills, and finding lots of inspiration through some very different internships. She's gained confidence and learned to take risks. "It can be hard to juggle internships, class work, extracurriculars, and working to support myself, while still trying to enjoy the college experience," she says. "But this has allowed me to figure out what is most important to me."

Laken Geiger is a junior with a major in Communication and minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. She has had several media and arts-related internships, and spent Spring 2014 studying in Prague. She is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America and Habitat for Humanity.

Kirsten Henning is a junior in Communication who has had three internships to date during her time in CHASS. "It’s been beneficial to intern for a number of different companies," she says. "It allows me to try new things and gives me the chance to find something that I really enjoy."
Donors Help Top Students Reach Their Potential

Merit scholarships play a critical part in attracting and retaining such students. This year, CHASS awarded more than 100 merit-based scholarships across all its disciplines. Interns connect classroom to careers
An article in the Technician highlights two CHASS students who are participating in the State Government Internship Program. Susan Camilleri, a graduate student in public administration, is interning with the Department of Administration, where she's assisting the legislative liaison with tracking bills. Cody Munson, a sophoomore in communication, is working with the Division of Governance Office within the Department of Transportation. The two students are among 56 students chosen from across the state for the prestigious internship program that helps students connect classroom material to potential careers.
